I have about 7,000 tracks in my library. I got excited and copied it all to my mythtv box, but I don't use it because it's a pain. I don't know C at all, but I was considering writing something in Perl or PHP that would allow some easy browsing/playlist selection stuff and add it to my MythWeb. I would probably keep it completely separate from Myth and use a SQLite DB or something so it's portable. I'm sure there are tons of scripts out there that do this, but I would keep the interface TV/IR Remote friendly specifically for using on my mythtv frontend.

Now to only find the time to do it...

Regarding MythMusic, I'll refrain from saying anything as I have nothing nice to say. If there are users out there who listen to a lot of music (as many hours/day as TV) and use MythMusic, I implore them to come forward and share their success stories.
I don't know what you mean by success, but if that's just having it working, then yes I play music with visualizations and all :D It doesn't crash or do anything wierd. However, when displaying visualizations full screen, it won't display the track name when the song changes. Other than that works great have no other gripes. I wouldn't say I listen as many hours as watching TV, but almost as much. Sound is pretty good coming out of my onboard chip; could be better with a better card of course.

I use it some and find it akward to browse / modify the play lists. I have not figured out how to add a playlist, just delete and rename. Other than that, it works just fine to listen to music.
