As far as TwinView, I did some googling and I think I've got a working xorg.conf to try after work today.
One more question:
I've read in the archives that the MCE remote will work, but what about the IR blaster? Will this have to be replaced with on from irblaster.info or similar?

Yes. I think nVidia calls this TwinView or something like that

Myth screens for 4:3 are built for 800x600 resolution in the menus and
this is what I use.

Maybe try xvidtune?
