the frontend can hide livetv recordings if you tell it to keep them separate.
why can't mythweb follow the same rule?

I assume since your using SVN, youre subscriber to the -dev and -commit
lists, please read thru them concerning the changes in LiveTV and why
its doing what you now see.  There is no change in how MythTV works, it
will auto expire LiveTV recordings when/if it needs the space.
