Gosh, that's a pretty diagram. :)
I eventually settled on 3200kbits/sec as being just about as good as
4500, and sufficiently small for my needs. Interestingly, at least
at that rate, changing the resolution from 720x480 to 640x480 made
no apparent difference at all, so I left it at 720. (Maybe I'd see
something if I did something extreme like 480x480, but since the
apparent quality at 3200 is very close to 4500, it's probably not
worth fiddling with it much more.)
