G'day,

ChemSpider searches require a "Security Token" to be supplied along with certain queries, and a single token is hard-coded into MZmine for this purpose.  Last year we were contacted by the RSC due to a large number of ChemSpider database searches originating from MZmine users.   It was agreed with the RSC that MZmine would be modified so that users would provide their own security tokens so as to better identify search usage.

So, I've made a change to the MZmine source-code that implements this feature.  From MZmine 2.5 onwards you'll need to supply your own ChemSpider security token (via the on-line search module dialogue).  You can generate your own token by registering for a (free) ChemSpider account (http://chemspider.com).  Then log into your account and obtain your token from your user profile.

Earlier versions of MZmine will continue to work with the old security token but ultimately the RSC will deactivate the token.

Regards,
Chris.
