Hi You need to delete the copper fill zones before you export the DSN to FreeRouting. Then FR will route all the traces including the ground traces. Once you reimport the Specctra session into PCBnew you can add the copper fill zones which will then absorb all the ground traces.
Thanks and have a nice day! I’m wondering if anyone here with more experience with FR can help me out. I’m working on a double-sided board. I successfully manually routed the whole board (way too many hours spent on this!) and I’m now comparing my manual results with FR’s capabilities. There are copper “zones” on both sides, to be connected to GND. When I route the board in FR, it doesn’t attempt to connect any of the pins that are intended to be connected to GND. All other traces are routed correctly, in accordance with the design rules (track widths etc) that I defined in KiCAD. FR seems to assume that KiCAD’s GND “zones” will connect all the GND pins, when the zones are later filled in by Pcbnew. The problem is that when Pcbnew (in KiCAD) does fill in the zones, it can’t reach many of the required pins, as FR hasn’t left any space for the zones to flow between the traces that FR has laid. Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve found a workaround (disconnect the zones from GND, before running FR) but I assume there should be a better way to do this?
