I use basically the same, but add one part of acetone to 4 parts alcohol to
get the stubborn stuff off.

Todd,

I use 99.99% Isopropyl Alcohol. Pour some in a clean plastic pan or bin (got
one the right size for S-100 boards from the dollar store). Fill the bin to
cover the board 1/2" deep. Let soak for 5 minutes, use a chemical brush to
scrub the board, dip again for final rinse. Pull out, let drip dry, use hair
dryer or heat gun (keeping a bigger distance or shorter timer).
Pour the alcohol back into the bottle for the next board, you can do 20-40
boards with a 1L bottle, you know it's time to discard when the alcohol turns
yellowish.

Good Luck
Josh

Subject: [N8VEM-S100:5979] Solder Flux cleaning question.

I'm getting ready to build the 8080A CPU board, so there's going to be
allot of solder points. I use Kester 24-6040-0027 21awg solder, but was
wondering if there was a better solder in regards to flux clean up.

In the past, I have used Acetone, carb cleaner, brake kleen and Blue
Shower to clean PCB boards. The 'cleaner' I use varies based on how
the solder mask reacts with the 'cleaner' Some chemicals make the
solder mask or joints look white.

Most of the time I use q-tips and Acetone, but I'm looking for a bulk
clean. I want the board to look nice when done.
