Guys, I'm not trying to start a war, but I am curious about
experiences with these specific vendors and equipment with regards to
10G Direct Attach Copper Passive Twinax cables vs Optical?

Juniper EX4550-32F Switch to Dell FX Chassis (8 ports) and to Nimble
Storage array (12 ports).

This is all within one rack and I don't expect much growth. Dealing
mostly with networking rather than data center, we are used to using
optical for nearly everything except 1G within a rack and wall-jacks
in the office. So we always have spare SFP+ and patch cables around.
>From what I see the Junipers will try and bring up any cable or optic
that is plugged into them regardless of mfg code.

Does anybody know if the Dell FX chassis or the Nimble are picky?

Any other thoughts when we are only talking about 12 ports? The
classic pro vs cons are not as big of a deal. Yes, copper uses less
power so that is a big advantage in a full data center, but does not
matter much for 12 ports. Optics are more expensive, but again for
only 12 ports it's not a big deal. (I'm just staying away from
10G-Base-T for now, plus I've already got the gear with SFP+ ports
anyway.)

Thanks for any thoughts you guys might have. -- Andy
