[Nagios-users] The best way to test notifications

Hello all!   I have a need to test notifications on a monthly basis. We have sections of our network that are very quiet; thusly we do not see any alerts from these sites. The way I have been testing notification is shutting down Nagios at the remote end and waiting for the notifications to start/end.   It seems crude to me to perform this function in order to get a “test” notification. Anyone have any suggestions or ideas? Is this something that could be in 3.0?   Thanks in advance,   Mike
