Just to sum it up: - David dislikes adding extra hosts - David dislikes adding extra checks. If this hostgroup is important than how is each service to learn their different address? Because it can't be from the host group nor from any macro. David: You need to write your own check from scratch and give it your own table from some other source unknown to Nagios and hope you will not forget about them if you make a change or live with the extra hosts.
