There is no *native* support for DB backends in Nagios 2.0. However, 
with the event broker mechanism you can easily plug an existing one 
(e.g. nagiosDB) or create your own.

Nah, I set up a MySQL backend for my first nagios installation, then realised there wasn't much to be gained by this which is why the developers don't care much for it.
