I don't know what insight manager from HP does, it would have helped if you told us. I take it that the overall problem you want to solve is monitoring disk(s). Have you tried check_disk for space problems and check_sensors for S.M.A.R.T. disks. check_linux_raid for Linux software RAID. On nagiosexchange you'll find some Solaris specific checks for disk health including mirrored devices. I do believe I've seen some HP specific ones as well. If you state your problem more clearly, it's easier to help you out.
