Hi Andreas, Thanks for your feedback.
Offcourse I'm not using the vmware setup to monitor itself ;) It was monitoring the complete network. Anyway, I started of with a clean sheet, installed it on a standalone server. It's rebuilt for 98% which brings me to the part of decent backups...I'm not a linux wizz at all! Would you have some good recommandations for backing up my system in a simple way so I can rebuilt it after a crash ? Would a ghost image work (just for the OS and plugins) combined with periodical copies of the cfg files ? Thanks, Tim. -----Original Message----- From: Andreas Ericsson [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: maandag 9 juni 2008 14:31 To: Tim Van Caeyzeele Cc: nagios-users@lists.sourceforge.net Subject: Re: [Nagios-users] Nagios VM Tim Van Caeyzeele wrote: > Hi All, > > I was wondering if anyone has a full up and running nagios 3.02 > installation with some extra features in it and is willing to share > it ? Nagios relies heavily on the system clock running nicely over a long period of time. VMWare isn't very good at that sort of thing, so you'd be better off running it on a stand-alone server. Besides the clock issue, would you *really* want to monitor your VMWare server from within the VMWare server itself? It's like testing if a gun works by looking down the barrel and pressing the trigger half a dozen times. -- Andreas Ericsson [EMAIL PROTECTED] OP5 AB www.op5.se Tel: +46 8-230225 Fax: +46 8-230231 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the new SourceForge.net Marketplace.
