Sure do. We (Powerset) generate our nagios configurations from a database
of our inventory and services. This system allows our users opt in for
systems that should be monitored (and in the short term what they should be
monitored for).
The nagios monitors pull our configuration from puppet (or rather puppet
ensures that our configuration is kept in a consistent state).
