they use something like "Ethernet0/0" in the example.

The manual states:

-i --interface STRING
Full name of the interface to check. Required.
Examples would be eth0 or FastEthernet0/1

Suggestion: try "Ethernet0/0" or "FastEthernet0/1" (or 0 instead of 1)
and report back, if it works :-)
