You have to use chek_nrpe for remote checks.
Nagios Server:
define command{
command_name check_nrpe
command_line $USER1$/check_nrpe -H $HOSTADDRESS$ -c $ARG1$ -to 60
}
Remote Host (nrpe.cfg):
command[check_crond]=/usr/local/opmon/libexec/check_procs -w 1: -c 1: -C crond
