I don't know the specific documentation you are referring to but I can hazard a guess. The DNS information, and proper functioning of the DNS servers, may be among the very things you are trying to monitor. If the DNS portion of your network is failing then you will lose telemetry on all nodes identified by DNS names which will make identifying the problem harder..
