Yes, there are different ways lately, snmp vs WBEM and python,... I believe both require esx not esxi (not sure about the latter, no service console so not sure how you'd install this?) and I believe both require the "HP Management Agents" - you should be able to find them here for your 460c g5 blades, and version of ESX:
