According to the documentation , you need to set the relevant stalking_options in the service definition. See: http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/stalking.html and http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/objectdefinitions.html#service I can't say I've ever tried it myself though.
