The usual advice for hiding a hostgroup is just to > use a ‘register 0’, but then the wget doesn’t return anything when > referencing it. > Thanks for any pointers… Of course the wget will not work . register 0 tells nagios not to display the group in the WebUI ( it does more , but currently that is the relevant part) and as you are trying to access the data via a HTTP request , the item in question is not passed to the web provider (apache) and there for not coming up for a wget request.
