Also keep in mind although we have a great team put together, we are open to having guest educators, even techs without the title of educator that have something to offer others in the industry are welcomed as guests to teach thier tips, tricks and technigues...if any of you are interested, please let me know. Alice, thank you so much for your dedication to education and our team!!! xo

To: [email protected] Date: Friday, September 26, 2008, 10:01 AM I wrote a private note to Alice saying I’m sooo jealous about the HRTE classes…I wish I could attend as many as possible! She wrote me back a private note….part of which I feel would be very appropriate for the group, so I am forwarding those parts. Alice, as always, you are right on point! Stiletto point, in fact! Best, Karen Morning Glory Key West From: Alice [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, September 24, 2008 11:13 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] … In all fairness I know that some classes clash with schedules...But...It's incredibly frustrating to hear please come to our area we want a class....then we arrange it...and guess what no takers.....This has been a huge problem across the board for years as far as education goes. Lack of attendance, and a lot of excuses. It's too far it,costs too much, that's my only day off.... What many may not realize is that the HRTE Team, Tammy, myself, Loni, Gina, Rhonda, Amy, Cenita, Joseph we are donating our time to educate. We aren't getting paid at all. We are all losing valuable time and money from our salons and our clients to do this. We all absolutely love doing these classes....giving back to the industry and to our fellow techs....and that makes it worth while for us. And the best part these classes are non product specific. You bring your own product, you bring to us what your challenges are and we will do what we have to to help you master them. I'm going to let you in on my thoughts, I'm not young...and there are many of us on here that are over 35...this is a youth driven industry whether we like it or not. Regardless of how booked we are right now, eventually its going to be harder to gain and keep our clientele....especially if our e conomy keeps up the way it has. What's going to separate you from the Nail Tech down the street is Education. What's going to bring and keep new clients is being up on the latest and newest techniques....it's the Education that you seek out and bring back to the table. You can read about new techniques on BT or in the Trade mags all you want...but that's so one dimensional...that's like reading an owners manual then proclaiming that you are no 100% a pro at something. So maybe the youth of America might not want to go to the "old" nail tech...what does she know....But guess what? Little miss 20 something nailtech down the street hasn't a clue how to do bling nails, or create a stiletto....her smile lines look like a 5yr old did them....You can be darn skippy the clients are going to be coming to me....because I made it my business to step out of my box, put some gas in the car and sit my butt down in a class for education. Sure there are some of you on here that have competed, or have had the honor of being trained by some of the industries Super Stars, But the majority of you have not....the majority of you are the back bone of our industry, working away at a career that you love, just trying to make a decent living and create beautiful nails. We all have challenges, whether its acrylic application, gel application, proper prep, finish filing, pedicures, nail art...or perhaps you just can't get that 3D flower to pop.....That's what the High Ro ad to Education strives to offer you....that gentle or not so gentle nudge in the right direction...sometimes its the confirmation that guess what you were doing it right all along! One of the most popular segments of our class is finish filing. You have no idea how many seasoned techs had an "AH-HA" moment when they see what Joseph teaches, and when he stands behind you holding your hand correctly...Such a simple thing finish filing...or so I thought....I'm one of those techs...holy cow...all these years I thoughtlessly finished filed...my finished nails looked ok...but not perfect....I'm still striving for that perfect nail....I still sit and watch Joseph when he teaches that. My point to everyone is...and I'm speaking for Educators every where when I say this. We will come teach you and share our knowledge...but come on, it isn't going to happen for free, we aren't going to come pick you up and bring you to the class , we aren't going to take notes and learn it for you. You have to step up to the plate, open your minds, invest the time, travel, and money into your career....because eventually it's going to become just a job. I don't care how long you have been a Nail Tech....you are never too good to learn something new, and you never know you might just teach us Educators a thing or two!
