Unfortunately, despite much searching, I have been totally
unable to find the original post from the BT message boards
that requested a HRTE in Arizona.

I remember reading it, it specifically suggested the
possibility of scheduling in January.

Then a lot of people expressed interest, and an Arizona
HRTE was scheduled-- for next weekend, October 5/6.

Scrolling down from my post, you will notice that I chose
to "quote" Karen's entire post, which was a partial letter
from Alice regarding HRTE and the corresponding obstacles
involved with scheduling such an event. My post was in
direct response to Karen's post... I did not intend to
confuse you.

Saying "HRTE" in certain contexts sounds weird. That's why
I said "edition"-- it was meant to be the wrong word
because I'm not sure what the appropriate term is:
"Class?" "Show?" "Seminar?" "Installment?" "Event?"

At any rate-- Karen's post, and Alice's letter to Karen
that was quoted in Karen's post-- discussed some of the
problems associated with making a major networking event
come to life. It dealt with the initial onslaught of
interest, followed by the thudding lack of follow up.

I felt I would step up and throw my hat into the rink to
voice my personal reason for not being in attendance.

It wasn't meant to confuse, comingle, or obfuscate. It was
simply an excuse to post to the list. Possibly to provide
input that might be helpful to anyone who is planning an
event in the future.

It was intended to stimulate conversation.

It was intended to assert that I-- for one-- do not think I
am "too cool for school;" but to offer up other
possibilities as to why some are unable to attend, or why
someone might initially show enthusiastic interest only to
not be in the final count.

Perhaps it is not so with the majority of my colleagues,
but scheduling serveral days off is a major task for me.
Especially this time of year, as business picks up for the
holidays.

And, although I have no intention of whining about funds--
I feel that continuing education is worth the investment --
I make decent money, but still need to budget for my big
events.

I didn't mean to suggest that the resulting October 5/6
date was unacceptable! It certainly seems to work well for
enough people to have made it happen! It just came too fast
for ME. Especially since the original request as posted to
the BT message boards suggested January, which gave me
PLENTY of time to get used to the idea.

As for asking how much time I think is sufficient for
planning? In this case, it did feel like it happened very
fast, but the bigger issue is the time of year. And, as I
said, I have already had the Nailpro show on the calendar
for a year. Two out of town trips in the same month is
already tough-- two trips in a BUSY month just aren't
doable for me.

.....I was going to take that whole paragraph regarding this
being a "youth driven industry" and run with my thoughts on
that in its own post... maybe I'll just let it go; I really
didn't think my post came off so out of context, I don't
want to go off on another rant and lose everyone entirely.
