Hi pat,
I use the scotch tape method for nail biters.
The reason for this is to pull back the fatty part of the toe. Then
overlay a nail form on top of the tape. Then sculpt the toe nail.

You can not use just the scotch tape because it will melt when the
acrylic is applied. Also it creates a perfect environment for bacteria
to grow. So a form must be used over the tape so the tape will remove
w the form.

When sculpting be  sure to leave a small margin on the side wall, free
of acrylic, to allow moisture to escape. I have pics of this entire
process from start to finish if you want to see.
