Thank you all for your help Everyone!!!! I was definitely thinking the same
thing, to not put anything on there. I wouldn't feel comfortable doing it,
and then having her damage it, or worse yet get some kind of infection in
there.

With her nails so clearly involved in whatever her health crisis is, I would
not put more enhancements on her until she knows what's going on. I don't know
what causes soft spongy nails, but that sounds like a very fragile surface to
me and maybe best treated only with gentle products and treatments. If they
weren't lifting it would be different. Under the circumstances you have
outlined, if it was my client I wouldn't give her more artificial nails.

Do keep us posted on how this develops, I haven't encountered an issue like
this before.

I have already told her on the phone that I don't think it is safe at this
point, but I will have a looksie on Tues. night and see what I think.

I may have to get a pic of them, and post and see what you all think. That
is if the pic shows what I see.

I feel so bad for her, not just for her nails, but this poor woman, is
trying so hard to keep working and finally just got health insurance, her
husband is an arse, and yes she is stressed but I dont think stress can cause
all this damage.

I thought of just giving her a good mani, and just using Nail Tek or
something like that, but would that be too harsh?

GEEZ! I dont think you should use any chemicals on this lady.
Give her a hand massage and tell her until she has a diagnosis you dont feel it
would be a safe idea to put on extentions or to apply chemicals.

You can do this Shannon. You have to CYA and do the best for the client.

Ok, so I have this client, used to come in absolutely perfect every fill
or backfill, just had to take down length and prep for fills. Well for the
past couple of months she has had some severe physical issues, her doc says
its all in her head and that it is just stress. Now this girl is visibly
sick, not just to me, but to her family, etc. She is passing out all the time
and dizzy and horrendous headaches, and she came in one time during all this
and her face was so swollen with fluid I thought she was gonna blow up. Now,
when you can visibly see there is something wrong and still tell this girl its
just stress, URGH I wanna choke that Doctor. Anyway, here is my issue,
during this time frame, her nails started lifting, then breaking, then very
soft and spongy at cuticle, and a reddish hue on all nails near the cuticle,
we have taken off all product and I tried just doing a resin glue, just to put
some kind of protection on her, her nails hurt.
Well that didn't work either, and came off in a couple days. I originally
had her in AC, then the issues started, so tried gel, that didn't work. So
nothing will stay on her at this point, and she called the other day to see if
I could try AC again, but says that her nails are lifting from the nail bed.
I don't know what to do for her, if it is even safe at this point to put
anything on her. I think she is finally seeing another Dr. and they did blood
work and she is going for B-12 shots. She don't think that is the problem,
and quite frankly neither do I. I think she needs a cat scan or MRI of her
whole body to see what the heck is going on. Oh and I think she is going to
see a neurologist.

Anyway, so any suggestions out there? This poor girl needs some help, her
fingernails just rip right off they are so thin, they are in pain.

  Thanks
  Shannon
