Roxanne,

I was having a few problems like this. I did build up the stress area and I
changed the blubs in my lamps .. worked like a charm.

Good luck,

Subject: NailTech:: Gel Cracking

I have a gel client with some cracking on a couple of her nails.

I've been using the Brisa Gel system. She is an older lady, retired but
working part time as anesthetist nurse = extreme hand washing/dry hands/dry
cuticles. She said they are typically brittle without anything on them. The
problem fingers are the two pointers on the left and right, sometimes the
middle on the right and her right thumb. She has said she's wacked them into
the monitors before and they've cracked. When I first took her on she was
unhappy with the results of her last tech. And If I remember correctly I'm
having the same problems with her minus the lifting. I gave her some Solar
oil and explained home care and again explained that just because she has
the gel overcoat it doesn't make her nails impervious to damage.

She does have a very high arch on the several of the nails that are
cracking. Yesterday I took one of the pointers down and applied a tip which
somewhat eliminated the arch on her left pointer and I'll see next week how
it holds up.

I am applying the gel in thin coats. She seemed to think they were stronger
when they were thicker (it's what the other nail tech did), I can't imagine
putting it on any thicker especially with that high arch. There is NO
lifting from the cuticle area. These look like stress cracks across the free
edge on the fingers she uses the most.

I really like this client. I'd hate to lose her.

Thanks for your help!!
