yes I agree with everyone, make more money with the pedicures. As I
stated last year, I lost about 10 ac clients, but replaced them with
ped clients, even though they book once every 4-6 weeks, I am making
more money because of the price or products and the time issue.

But I started bling toes in October!! I never thought my clients
would go for these, boy was I 100% wrong. I learned the techniques
from my Sept. class with HRTE. Gina, Tammy, Lonnie and Natalie have
been sooo helpful..Rhonda K helped me gobs too with my frustrations!!!!

The reason I started this new service in October was to start getting
my technique perfect before the spring. And to also advertise this
thru word of mouth. I wanted a 4-5 month "working with the product
and time issues" so I can be ready for the spring and summer rush!!!

Of course I started with telling my clients, but I gave everyone of
my co-workers free bling toes, and surprising, many of the stylist
wanted them on their nails instead. This was the best move I have
made!!! The stylist showing off their nails and toes. I sold bunches
of gift certificates at Christmas time just by giving my co-workers
free bling!!!

I charge a flat fee of $25.00, don't care if it is a full set, fill
in, toes or fingers. This does not include the ped or the manicure.

If they do want a spa ped or spa man with the bling, I will knock the
price down $5. But otherwise, 25. and they are paying it. During
this bad economic times, they may want to give up their pedicures,
but they want their toes done. They consider it a must
have. Because the bling lasts so long, they can go a long
time. They get quality and quantity for the price.

I do insist that they come in without any polish on their nails filed
down ready to go.

I was doing them at my table, well not on my table, but the client
having their foot in my lap and the lamp under us. But it was
tearing my back up and very uncomfortable for the client. So my
wonderful boss built me this board type of thing covered in leather
to sit on top of the ped tub. It covers the tub and the faucet. It
is impossible for the water to come on or touch the client in case
the knobs accidently turned on, electricity and water do not
mix!!!!!!!!!LOLOLOL

Trying to get my time down to about 30 minutes. Right now book them
45 minutes. If they pick a dark color takes me longer, light color,
in and out. Plus and organization issue, want to get a roller cart
and keep all bling together, right now all over the place. Also,
really want to use the sciver bit for the cuticle area, but have to
unplug my E file and carry it over and re plug, PIA!!!! Wish list is
to get Gina's E-File, portable, battery operated, but very
expensive. If bling is a hit, which I think it will be, will buy one.

The couple of negatives on this, stinky feet, so I have them rub hand
sanitizer all over their feet, and it helps. A couple of my ped
clients have switched to this, in which I have lost money because
they no longer get peds, they want bling only. But I have new
clients and make more money. When they do re-book, thought they
would want the same color, WRONG, they want the old bling removed and
a brand new color. Which leads me back to getting my e-file out and
transfer it, need this portable e-file!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Light, I have a
ott lamp over my nail table, but only have ceiling lights in the ped
room, like to work with light!!!! Bling looks so much better in
direct sunlight, WOW, want to find a light bulb that copies this
excitement (anyone an expert on different light bulbs)?

I am slowly making displays of my different bling nails, and will
have them finished this month.

This is getting way tooo long. Will write about how I do bling on
another post.

But my point being, we have to market ourselves in different ways and
it is hard to think of something new and exciting. I have been doing
as Maggie calls them "rock star" nails for years, but with ac on a
couple of nail clients, not toes. I absolutely did not think anyone
would go for this, WRONG. Plan months in advance for a new service
so you have it perfected. Use your free resources for advertising
(your co-workers and bosses).

I revamped my biz thinking okay, what can't they(consumer) afford,
IN THEIR MINDS, and what do they(consumer) think they CAN
afford? Quality plus Quantity. They may skip their pedicures but
they want their toes to look nice. BINGO. Toe polish is not enough.
All those prom girls, college gals and everyday women want something
special, and at $25 dollar a shot, hell if I never see them again,
fine with me. But I am filling those empty spots with one timers and
many re books. I was wrong in assuming I did not need to know how
to deal with gels, not enough time, my clients are happy, why do I
need to know gels. WRONG again.

This recession pushed me to get my crap together for the
future. Times are changing and I needed to get with it. I needed a
service that the consumer did not need to commit to every two weeks
or a month. I needed to grab the attention of those out there that
were willing to pop 25 dollars on something that would make them look
special for a couple of months, even if they never came back. I
found it in bling!!!!!!!!!!! diana from indiana
