I was talking to two clients this morning about tanning. I am going to tan a
few times before I leave for my trip to Punta Cana. I am not into tanning, do
not believe in it for "beauty" reasons. I am afraid I will burn when I get
there since I am never in the sun.The owner of where I am going has what is
called "tanorexia." (Curves owner) She looks awful. I told her that she needs
to back off the tanning. She has herself convinced that she looks awful without
her tan. She also gets things done surgically to improve her look. WTF?? She
could have prevented all those lines had she stayed out of the tanning beds.
Her skin is like leather. However, I do not believe that teens should have to
get a doctor note to allow them to tan. It really should be up to the parent. I
DO think the parent should take them IF they allow their kids to tan the first
time.My kids had no interest in tanning. We raised them to always use
sunscreen. My daughter has skin the color of whole milk. I am taking her
Coppertone Babies SPF 50 when I visit her next week. HER request for sunscreen.
She lives in Chicago, but knows she needs it year round. My son learned a hard
lesson when he was at the shore last year when he thought you do not need
sunscreen on cloudy days. WRONG. He throws up from sun overexposure.Anyway,
some people are just plain stupid. Tanning (and smoking) are known to cause
cancer. Proven carcinogens. Anyone who chooses to do either only is asking for
trouble. And to add fuel to the fire--- if anyone has a heart condition or
cancer from either of these should be denied insurance. Why should "I" have to
pay for their poor choices in their lives? Let them pay out of their pockets
for their medical bills. With the cost of tanning and cigarettes, the money
they could save to save their lives would be tremendous!buenos dias,Lynnette
