I have been very fortunate, and am very very busy.  I have moved twice in the
past 2 years.  I have been a year and a half at my new home based salon and am
almost to the point of turning people away.  I have not done any advertising,
except for a table ad at a town 20 minutes away from here,  and have not had
one response from it.  All my business has been from word of mouth,  I did
start at a local spa in town and had a few clients follow me, but the rest were
referrals or just new people that had heard of me.  Or some stranger asked my
client who did your nails,  and it just fell into place, it did however take a
bit of time to build that. But once I had my 2 week regulars,  they don't want
to loose their time slot and make sure they make their appts.  and the rest of
it fills in somehow.  Those straglers that only come in the spring and summer,
or for special occasions,  they keep me crazy busy this time of the year.

I wish you the very best in building your clientele,  just focus on being the
best you can be,  and it will all fall into place.

Hey everyone,
Just wanted to see how everyone was doing. I know Athena is rockin, but how is
everyone else? I am a new nail tech (I have finally achieved 1 year, no more
months!!) and started a brand new organic only natural nails salon in August.
We were really busy for a month and then the economy tanked. We also had issues
with another business associated with us and they were evicted and we had to
change our phone number which I am sure has not helped. The receptionist calls
all new clients after a week to find out how their service was and everyone
raves about the pedis and manis I do. I always take the appropriate amount of
time, am on time, never rush and do a good polish job. My question is, is
everyone else super busy and should I start looking for another salon, OR is it
slower across the board and I should be thankful I have such an awesome job
with an awesome boss in a fantastic building. I am also the only nail tech so I
get all the business.
