I agree Lynnette. Part of the problem is over use of anti bacterial and
antimicrobial products but not when it comes to hand sanitizers. Bath soaps,
deodorants, dish detergent and the like. Washing your hands properly is still
the best protection. I was not slamming Dr. Schneiderman, just the media. They
work for their own agenda and those of their advertisers. That's all.

However the alcohol based sanitizeds are harsh on the skin.

Simmy,
Dr. Snyderman did not say that alcohol kills it. She is saying prevention. I do
not feel she did this piece for ratings. She is quite knowledgeable having
watched her over the years.
At this point with the flu causing people to go crazy with fear, I would not
like to see people go with a false sense of security and use a product claiming
to kill it. If that were true then the bug would have been eradicated already.
What many do not know or understand that using too much of that stuff can also
make the germs resistant to die. I do not believe in hand washing AND
sanitizing. It is overkill and will only backfire. Isn't that what MRSA is?
Drug resistant strains? I will try to look up articles on this overuse of
antibacterials. Soap and water is all that is needed and it does not have to be
antibacterial soap.
I hope this clarifies my first post.
Buenos dias,
Lynnette

Adrienne and everyone,
I talked with Joann DiPrete on the phone about this today...I should have
done that before I posted that comment...live and learn ;( I'm sorry I
jumped the gun, but I'm happy to have caused the buzz. This is a subject we
need to collaborate together on.

She is going to send a more detailed post. But the jist of what she has to
say is that there is no hand sanitizer out there that will Kill this
particular swine flu. It's too new! So no company can claim that it kills
THIS swine flu.

HOWEVER...like they have been saying on the TV, hand washing is your best
defense against this. A hand sanitizer works (pardon the pun) hand in hand
with regular hand washing.

Ultronics and Dr. G's are really better because they kill more bacteria and
they do not dry the hands out with alcohol like Purell. My suggestion is to
go to their websites and look for the list of things their product kills.
www.ultronicsusa.com www.woodwardlabs.com

The things to look for are that it kills psudomonis (sp?), HIV, Hep b and c,
mursa and the like. Alcohol does not do that. I will let Joann give a more
detailed and technical explaination.

I think its really important that we all are very well educated on this
subject for two reasons. We deal with the public everyday so we need to
protect ourselves AND we can educate our clients with the correct info.
Remember, the news and TV shows don't always give the most up to date info.
They are media who are looking for ratings....JMHO (and many others too!)

Joann has been working on getting the correct info ever since this hit the
news and even before then so she'll keep us straight! I'll leave it to her
to give you the skinny!

all the best,

Simmy,

What qualities should we look for in a hand sanitizer against this flu? Is
there a special ingredient on the label we should specifically look for?

Hey Techies,

We should make sure our hand sanitizers kill this swine flu that is plauging
the world.

I just received this email from Andy Hillas, National Sales Manager of
Woodward Labs , and it got me thinking about hand sanitizers.

Joann DiPrete is a member of our group. She is from Ultronics who also
make a great hand sanitizer that is alcohol free. Joann, I assume that
yours also kills the swine flu...

 P. S. Dr. G's makes a foaming Hand Sanitizer . Apparently it kills Swine
Flu, read below:

Subject: Swine Flu and Hans Sanitizer

I just want to keep you all aware, that you should be considering placing an
order for Hand Sanitizer in all SKU's ASAP. We are not only monitoring our
inventory levels every 2 hours, we are shipping Hand sanitizer world wide
right now. From Spain to Singapore and even Dubai. The advantage we have
is that our product can be shipped air freight and alcohol based products
cannot because they are flammable. In addition, our supplier that makes the
foamer component warned us to order more as the demands on his company is
increasing as well.

So let's not get caught with our pants down on this one! Now is the time to
get Hand Clens and Dr. G's Hand Sanitizer in the hands of the people it can
help the most!

Remember, Dr. G's Hand Antimicrobial Hand Lotion kills Swine Flu as well!
