We have an emollient in them that prevent the drying out of skin. You can use them all day long and your hands will actually be more moisturized then of you had not used them. Both claim that we can kill Influenza type A-2, which includes one of the strains of the "Swine Flu" The "Swine Flu" is caused by influenza A subtypes H1N1, H1N2, H3N1, H3N2 and H3N3. The EPA had very strict guidelines regarding kill claims. They want you to prove that you kill specific pathogens. Since this current outbreak is so recent there is no product on the market that can say it kills all of the subtypes. However that does not mean that it doesn't. It usually takes about 2 years of testing, documentation and government red tape before the EPA will certify a kill claim. Then the labeling needs to be registered on all 50 states. So while no one can say that they can kill "Swine Flu" we can say that we can kill Hong Kong Flu and all type A-2 influenza strains. These are very closely related to the "Swine Flu". In any case it doesn't mean that we don't kill swine flu. In addition the CDC says that alcohol based sanitizers may be used in a health care setting with patients that are known to be carrying the Swine Flu. You mention that alcohol does not kill"psudomonis (sp?), HIV, Hep b and c, mursa and the like". Our EPA registered alcoholl based disinfectant and our FDA registered hand sanitizer are both listed as killing all of the things that you mentioned plus many many more. We have the broadest kill claims of any hand sanitizer or disinfectant on the market. In fact we are the only hand sanitizer that I am aware of that can claim we kill hepatitis A, B and C. This is a subject we need to collaborate together on. She is going to send a more detailed post. But the jist of what she has to say is that there is no hand sanitizer out there that will Kill this particular swine flu. It's too new! So no company can claim that it kills THIS swine flu. HOWEVER...like they have been saying on the TV, hand washing is your best defense against this. A hand sanitizer works (pardon the pun) hand in hand with regular hand washing. Ultronics and Dr. G's are really better because they kill more bacteria and they do not dry the hands out with alcohol like Purell. My suggestion is to go to their websites and look for the list of things their product kills. www.ultronicsusa.com <http://www.ultronicsusa.com/> www.woodwardlabs.com <http://www.woodwardlabs.com/> The things to look for are that it kills psudomonis (sp?), HIV, Hep b and c, mursa and the like. Alcohol does not do that. I will let Joann give a more detailed and technical explaination. I think its really important that we all are very well educated on this subject for two reasons. We deal with the public everyday so we need to protect ourselves AND we can educate our clients with the correct info. Remember, the news and TV shows don't always give the most up to date info. They are media who are looking for ratings....JMHO (and many others too!) Joann has been working on getting the correct info ever since this hit the news and even before then so she'll keep us straight! I'll leave it to her to give you the skinny! all the best, Simmy Bredal-Bell Vicki Peters Nail Products Team Vicki Partner Brick, NJ <mailto:[email protected]> [email protected] ---------------- From:[email protected] [mailto:[email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> ] On Behalf Of Adrienne Schodtler Sent: Wednesday, April 29, 2009 6:26 PM To:[email protected] Subject: NailTech:: Re: Swine Flu and Hands Sanitizer Simmy, What qualities should we look for in a hand sanitizer against this flu?
