Lmao. I was being a little facetious with my initial response. I really meant it as a joke.. To an extent. My opinion: I agree with MaryJo. she DOES have a lot of nerve to require you to let someone else use your equipment. Some places want a percentage of income AS booth rent. .but she is robbing you on so many levels. I have worked in a couple of salons where I paid like 40% commission UP TO SOME DOLLAR AMOUNT in lieu of booth rent. It works great when you are new to an area and you are just getting started. Say for instance, booth rent is $100/week (which I find to be average), then let's say the first week you work, you only have 5 clients and you make a total of about $175. Forty percent of that amount is only $70. This way the owner still gets some contribution without making you pay the whole booth rent amount. though not far from it. But say, the second week you work there, you make $325. Forty percent of that is $130. But booth rent is $100 so you just pay the booth rent amount. That is the fair way to do that. But your other issue is entirely another ball game. You pay rent on a certain amount of space in her salon and you are the Queen in that block of space. You are the "owner" of it and she is limited as to what she can police. Of course, states differ, so you will have to check into what you state allows. but.. My personal opinion is that you have a clueless salon owner. Either that or she is just plain greedy and selfish. In either case, you will never be happy there because that is not going to change. All I see is trouble headed your way there. JMHO Melody _____

Use it to pay your rent! Or tell her to get her own prod and equipment... As we know nail products are not cheap! I think 40% is too much and now we have a cosmo. coming in that does everything. She is going to use my table and pedicure chair and now the owner and she will be making money with my equipment (and polishes). I am only there 2 days a week and have asked the salon owner to let me pay her 25% commision and she can use my equipment. My question is do you all think this is fair or am I being unreasonable with this offer. There is also no advertising done, I supply my own business cards and brochures. I feel like a heel but I'm trying be business smart here. What do you all think? </html No virus found in this incoming message.
