Some people have sensitive nails in that the simple action of filing the nail is too traumatizing for it. I would be very light-handed when filing her nails or buffing off shine to prep... As we should anyway... But some people seem to have more sensitivity than others. Try filing with the growth pattern instead of across it. This may be less traumatzing to her nails.
I have one finger that has the tendency to do the same thing when I wear enhancements and I am sure it is probably because I am a little too rough when filing it. Try that as well. May help-may not. The worst thing that can happen is.... Nothing! Maybe her ripping them off all the time has them damaged enough to lift from nail plate. I know I have had a couple of my own that I ripped off and sure enough nail starts lifting off of the plate. To: [email protected] Date: Tuesday, May 26, 2009, 10:46 AM I have a client that just started seeing me the first part of May. Before me, prior to 2000 she had acrylic on and off. She had some kind of reaction, her nails started to separate from the nail bed along the side. Her doctor said her body did not like the acrylic and she took it off for a year. She was fine after a year and has had acrylic off and on since then no problems. In Aug 08 to Jan 09 she had tips w/ acrylic put on in Phoenix (don't know the brand). Jan & Feb she had fills then she went to a new salon (Vietnamese) and had a fill but she said they did a whole new set. She said they were so hard it freaked her out. Then she tried to soak them off and she said they wouldn't budge. (I know what that is Starts with an M....) I got her May 1st. with nothing on her nails. She wanted Gel put on... no tips. Put on Brisa Gel she came back each week had a manicure and any maintenance she needed. No problems other than lifting on the uneven nail surfaces of two of her nails.... well and the one time she chopped one off with a knife.... and then there was the drawer incident..... Last week she comes in and has them all off. Her nail started to lift from the natural nail bed along the lateral fold like before. Could this be from previous damage (she had a bad drill job done on her in Feb/March plus whatever crap they put on her)? Or maybe a sensitivity to the Gel or CND Brisa Primer? Once it clears can we try Gel without the primer or will they just fall off? She said she has several functions coming up and would like something done with her nails... any suggestions (other than a nice set of gloves) would be helpful. Thank you in advance....
