My big toes have that. i don't know if this is right or not but... Last september I had a cracked middle toenail and decieded not to cut my nails to save the cracked one for my trip to PA. While at the VF factory outlets in Reading (I mention because they are FABULOUS) I bought new tennis shoes and wore sed shoes the next day for 9 hours of shopping. My big toenails were so sore I actually soaked them that night. A few weeks later I noticed bruises on both big toes and a couple weeks after that I had a line more like a ledge going from side wall to side wall. So long story... well long, I'm assuming that the ledge was caused by the trauma of my much to long toenails hitting my shoes. Cira

There is a line going from sidewall to sidewall and on the matrix side the toenail is thinner. So you can actually feel the difference at the line. I thought because my big toe was infected for 2 months that would cause the problem on the big toe (but there are 2 more toes with that?) Any thoughts?
