(Just a speculation) Also, let's face it, when we make our clients sit still in a UV light for ten minutes, it gives them a chance to dry well with less chances to smudge. Humid or rainy days really slow the process down. Normally I just do the usual: base, color, top, drying drops. But on humid days, I stick them in the UV light for 5 to 10 minutes and they dry faster than if they just air dry. That's my 2 cents for the day... Has anyone thought that it might be the weather that causes the polish not to dry? i know the weather plays a big part in the way my acrylic lays on certain days. even in A/C i have to adjust how wet my acrylic is. And the humidity determines on how long I make my clients sit and dry. A: You may be surprised to learn the formaldehyde if not an ingredient in nail polish, hardeners or any other type of nail product. Until recently, manufacturers we required to list formaldehyde on the label even though the actual name of the ingredient is methylene glycol, a different chemical that id created by reacting formaldehyde and water. It is strange but true! No one cared about the difference until it was reported that inhaling large amounts of “dry formaldehyde gas” can cause a rare type of nasal cancer. Manufacturers became concerned that people might hear about this, get the wrong impression and mistakenly believe that this danger also applied to nail polish and other products. Over the last few years the NMC had worked tirelessly to get this error fixed. Now , manufacturers can use the correct ingredient name, methylene glycol on labels.
