I have a $1million professional liability policy that will cover my @$$ against clients suing me because they didn't go see a Dr when I told them to, or if they break out with a hideous rash because they failed to inform me that they are allergic to acrylic... stuff like that. I have $500,000 general liability which covers against "slip and fall" accidents: someone trips over a rug, slips on a wet floor, walks into a door, etc. I'm not sure that my policy is intended to cover anything OUTSIDE the salon, I remember when I owned my salon my general liability was designed to protect me from suits for injuries that originate on my side of the front door, and the landlord's policy was supposed to cover anything outside the door. I'm pretty sure my coverage for damages to the building I'm in is also half a million. (It might be a quarter mil) which will cover damages to the building and other peoples' stuff if it's my fault that the building burns down or floods or whatever. And my personal property is at $25,000 which will replace all MY stuff if the building catches on fire, no matter who's fault it is-- or floods or gets hit by a tornado (not likely in my area) and also covers against theft and vandalism, etc. My personal property is covered at actual replacement cost too, so it doesn't matter that my desk is 13 years old and fully depreciated and could only be sold for a couple hundred, if it burns up or disappears, my insurance will cover the cost to replace it with a similar one at whatever it costs today. I pay $50 (just under) a month from State Farm. I have considered many times looking into a cheaper policy BUT it is my considered opinion that it's easy to be happy with your insurance company as long as YOU'RE giving THEM money-- once you make a claim and need THEM to give YOU money? THAT'S when you find out how much you like your insurance company! So I stick with the company I know will pay my claims.

I would like to be as up-to-date as possible!
