Becky - Are you still in Missouri?? Anyway here's my pedi set-up:

I have a hydraulic chair with the platform and footrest attached. I love it,
it's great for short legs and long legs, just raise the chair. I use a
footbath from wal-mart at $25-30. I've tried the hotspa brand and for a man's
size 13 foot it's too small, cost is $85 and it wears out just as fast as the
less expensive. I usually buy 2 per year from wally world. They are also easy
to carry and clean out, no plumbing to worry about getting cleaned, just
surface cleaning. My problem right now is that the board under the seat is
broken so the chair leans to one side and I need to get the footrest recovered,
but I've used this chair for 7 years. Good luck! I've thought about going to
a nice metal bowl, but haven't found one large enough for the men's feet.

Why not go tubless? You could invest in a hot towel cabi and use warm steamy
towels. Better for the environment and easier for you. Plus, less cleanup
time so you can do more services in one day.

Angie, thank you for your reply! I'm going to really think about it.. the ET
spa I have has to be rolled back and if I'm going to do that, I might as well
just use it instead of a Brookstone and save myself the money, I just hate that
thing and cleaning it! I will look into them though, thank you again!

Becky,

I have and use brookstones pedi spas. I also have the European touch one that
you have. I have used it for many years until last year. I have to say it is a
pain in the a??. The draining, cleaning and it is so loud. I love brookstones.
The heater is great and the jets are very powerful. I have two of them incase I
don't have time to clean one in between pedi's. I would think any pedi bath
would be heavy filled with water to carry to far though. Do you have a roll
table you could use to move it to the sink? I like the concept of the Belava
and the Footsie, but in my opinion I think they are overpriced. How many
brookstones can you have for the price of one of those and they really are
pretty powerful. The downside to it is the drainplugs break on the brookstones.
Both of mine broke in this last year of buying them. They have a year warrenty
so they replaced them for me and now I have two brand new ones with a new one
year warrenty. I think I am going to start oiling the rubber on the plugs. I
don't know if that could be the problem or not. You can use the drain plug and
also turn it upside down to drain. Someone on here suggested this bath and said
she has to replace it every year because the bleach is harsh on the motor. It
is worth the $99 a year to me. I have paid $58 for another portable tub and it
just doesn't compare. The heaters just don't work in most of those.

I use a glider rocker that I got at k-mart for the chair. Clients love the
comfort. I am having my husband make a platform for it though because it sits
to low and is hard on my back.

Hello gang!

I know this post is an older one, but I am looking into a pedicure set up
again. I need your advice and suggestions. I did search the list for Footsie
baths, Belava and Brookstone - the Brookstone looks great, but the reviews
aren't so good...... How does this tub empty? I have a HUGE rolling spa
pedicure tub with jets and the whole thing (European Touch I believe) and it's
just too much. I have to roll the unit clear to a back room (I am in a fitness
center) through the exercise area, and drain it, sanitize it, etc.. it's taking
me 2 hrs to have a pedicure on my book. I want a simple solution but the
Brookstone seems like it might have the same challenges? I am also looking for
a good COMFY chair, no massage, just something they can relax in - I'm hoping
my fellow techs will chime in and give me lots of great advice like always :)
I'd also love your suggestions for the best pedicure products right now (a
wonderful SMELL is very important!)

Have a good one!

The spa I worked at in Tacoma had the kind of chair you describe. It was
alright. Not super comfortable for the client or anything, but it got the job
done. The way I do pedicures, it was awkward to have to keep flopping the leg
holder thing around, but I suppose that would depend on your procedure. I
always wanted to be able to put both of the clients legs up when I was done
with the foot bath!!
IMO, footsie baths are convienient for the liner, but they suck. The water
doesn't stay warm, the bottom gets too hot if you try to keep the water warm,
and I like jets. I use the footbath from Brookstone that is $99... has jets and
is easy to sanitize. I used both the footsie bath and brookstone bath in the
chair you are looking at... the brookstone bath worked just fine on the
platform.
Glad to see you're almost up and runnin' again!!! Good luck!!!

has anyone worked with an hydraulic pedicure chair? The kind that is the chair
and a foot rest and has a place for the footbath...not a spa chair...how did/do
you like it? Pros...cons.... My hubby does not want me to charge a spa
chair...he would rather me pay cash for it...and I keep telling him it is a
vicious circle...pedis bring in money and if i don't have a setup then I can't
do them.....I think this is a good compromise...I found a "brand new" one that
i can get for 225.00 (cheapest i have found online was 399. with 85.00 S+H) the
225.00 I can pick up in the city so no s+h charge either....
Now I need to know about foot baths...is the footsie one still the best? Or so
it seems...you guys are always talking about it....I think. :)
I can't do just a footbath on the floor...not good for the client to put foot
in my lap...uncomfortable...and I can NOT get down on the floor anymore..well
not easily anyway!
help I need your opinions....
