Shannon, I have several clients that I do this way. Eventually their own nails will be grown out under the gel and that always gives added strength to your gel. I also do this and use regular polish for those who do not want permanent color. With them, after I have cleaned the dispersion layer off the nails, I put a little drop of oil and rub it in with a piece of paper towel then I apply the polish and top coat.
