That is so terrible! What a mess and how disturbing for you and your
husband. A client of mine, many years ago, had the same thing happen
to her. Someone posted her contact info complete with home phone
number, on an x-rated web site stating that she was looking for some
hot action.

She began getting 50+ phone calls a day, became a crying, nervous
wreck, and finally after much begging, one man answered her questions
about where he got her info. She went to that site and sure enough,
there was all her information. The police were contacted because this
is a form of identity theft, too. Last I heard, their computer
forensic team couldn't pin it on anybody, but that was many years ago
and maybe they could today.

But the clincher was they suspected it was someone she knew. That's a
lot of effort to go to just to mess up someones life that you don't
even know. It's sad to say, but she was carrying on an affair with a
married man, so his wife became their number one suspect.

Look into who would have the most to gain by humiliating you and
causing trouble between you and your husband. And contact the police,
because next time it could be worse.
