Pam,
Hi ... The only thing I see missing from your wonderful sounding pedi is your
callous removal. Now that doesn't have to be 1/2" thick callous...even that
"rough" skin feeling will go away with some filing. Get yourself a GOOD pedi
file. One that I love is a metal one..resembles a butterknife and has
replaceable grits. I use a fine grit on one side and a medium to coarse grit on
the other. After the foot comes out of the soak...well I have different steps
..but... at that time I would (following your procedure) file the bottom of the
feet. heels, sides, balls of the foot...around the toenails (sometimes) . I
would use the coarse grit at this point (not on the toes tho) You will need
more pressure on the heel area and any thick callous...mild pressure to easy on
the rest. After the coarse grit..I use a sloughing lotion..you use the mango
scrub... then I put them in to soak again...do the other foot...when taking
that first foot out again to dry off...I would then use the fine side of the
pedi file and smooth everything out...this is usually a quick procedure...then
I massage..blah blah blah... here is what I do... IF feet need it..I will also
use my efile on them ...using a med-coarse sanding band. (when coarse filing)
good luck!

soak feet for 5-10 minutes ( I Use pedi-redi in my tub)
remove one foot dry off
remove polish
apply cuticle lotion
IF callous needs it use callous remover
trim nails
file nails
push back cuticles and trim
file callouses
use sloughing lotion
put foot back in and repeat on other foot.
when that foot is done put it back in and remove first one...dry off
use fine grit on heels, toes and anywhere else that "smoothing" is needed.
apply lotion and massage foot and leg to knee
clean off toenails with acetone
clean off toenails with scrubfresh

Subject: NailTech:: My First 2 pedicures, & lots of questions!

Well, I was SO lucky today! My 10:30 client said she wished the massage
therapist/nail tech had time for a pedicure today, well, she didn't but I did!
I've been doing this client for 20 years now, so it was a good one to start my
pedicure career with! Things went well! I did a run thru with my mom the
other day, and every time I left the room to get something, I added it to my
list! lol~ I have a list of things I need, and a list of things to do! (pre
warm booties, plug in tub, lay out supplies and tools etc.) Oh, and I found
a great light to use for the pedicure services, thanks to my mom and dads
garage. When I did my mom the other day, she mentioned that my dad had the
perfect light and I could try getting it away from him, but he was using it for
his saw table! OMG! I could only imagine what this light looked like, but it
really does work well! And its pretty! A nice silver chrome style floor lamp
that adjusts both up and down and has an arm that swings 360 degrees, it uses
what I call an aquarium bulb, the tubular type. Good job on that one Mom and
Dad!

Ok.. so, my next pedicure client is a shy guy. About 30 years old, Lol!
"Hey, no body better see me gettin' this pedicure!" Too funny! So... he is
WAY taller than the first lady! I had to have him scooch up the table about a
foot so I could re-adjust my body supports! His feet were hanging off the edge
of the table for cripes sake! MUCH bigger feet than the lady too! Gawd!
Anyone see the movie "Duece Bigelow?" Yea.. like that kind of feet! Now, here
is where it gets interesting.. I take his left foot out of the pedicure tub,
and start to massage the mango sugar scrub all over, and I notice his skin is
peeling off! WHAT! YIKES! Don't DO this to me! I am SO new to this, and WTH
is going on here! I ask him if he has had any problems with the skin peeling
on his feet, and he says, "Oh yea, ever since I was a kid that left foot has
always peeled like that". huh? He was right, the right foot didn't have any
skin peeling off, JUST the left foot! What is going on with THAT!? What am I
supposed to do to get the peeling skin off? Or not? Just leave it on? ew!
Either way ew! Anyway, after the mango scrub, I put it back in the tub for
more soaking, and moved on. I noticed when I was doing the cuticle work later
that the left foot still felt a little rough, hmmm... suggestions here? I
want to do the right thing, but what is it?

Let me outline my steps, to see if anyone has any suggestions or if I need to
add anything:
Sanitize feet with spray
Place in Pedicure tub (warm water, with fragrant Olbas sport oil)
Let soak 5 min
Take one foot out,
remove nail polish
mango scrub, back in tub
repeat with other foot
soak 5 more min
dry feet, proceed to massage table with body support system
apply cuticle cream
massage feet and lower legs
leave lots of cream on and put plastic paraffin protectors on feet
slide on warm socks & then heated booties
clean up pedicure tub while client "softens"
remove booties, socks, and bags
rub in remaining cream
push back cuticles
clip & file nails
clean nails with scrubfresh
base coat, polish color, topcoat dry with small hairdryer for 2 min inbetween
each coat
clean up where I colored outside the lines
apply oil
help client with shoes and socks

Ok, anything else to add or change around? I appreciate any suggestions you
may have!
Thanks,
Pam
