I have always kept 2 books for products purchased. One is for NO resell (gifts to clients,broken items,used product) and the other for retail, with taxes collected. Lynnette, you want to make sure that if you didn't pay sales tax, and these things were given as gifts,or they were broken, that you don't pay the sales tax since you didn't receive payment of taxes. With my gift shop I would receive items in a large shipment that were broken and it didn't make good sense for the shipment cost to send 1 item back. My accountant said that I could "write" off the damaged goods and of course no sales tax would be due. The same for gifts(promoting), which is a "write off." (It is too early in the morning..
