In case you've been curious, and weren't sure if a networking event was right for you, here's what goes on at the "3rd Annual Nail Tech Networking Event of the Smokies":
Techs check in and register for door prizes, guest speaker talks about something relevant to the nail business (20 min. max) then the techs are able to move about having nails demo'd and watching nail demos. You can stay all day at one table to absorb everything you can or you can visit other tables. No private classes are held this day. 12 educators will be doing their best to help you learn about their products. Some of these educators are celebrity nail techs and award winning top competitors who have traveled the world, but they're very friendly and not at all intimidating. How could one not learn something vital from the top of our field? Plus, this is a great way to find out about new/different nail companies you might otherwise not have known about, see what products they have to offer that could solve your nail dilemmas, test drive a demo nail, purchase deals or place an order for delivery, find out about upcoming classes or book one for your salon, get info on becoming an educator yourself, get special offers for future purchases and free samples, etc. By networking with these other techs, salon owners can recruit new employees, get honest feedback on products that worked or did not work for them, make new friends and business contacts, find future traveling buddies to go to other shows, etc. With the Internet, our nail world is getting more connected! Lunch is served at noon (included with the price) and techs can eat indoors while visiting with other techs or they can enjoy the long balcony overlooking the stream or even the rocking chairs in front of the Event Center. Demo's go on until 4pm when the drawing starts and we have some fantastic door prizes this year, like a complete Therabath paraffin machine, $399 Chi Ionic nail light, portable decorative pedi bowl, Spa mani kits from Amber, Nail Harmony gel kit, Haken Spa products, and too many others to mention! Upon conclusion each tech fills out an anonymous evaluation form (giving us feedback on the Event so we can make it better for next year) and then gets a large goodie bag of nail products. Only techs attending the Event get goodie bags and can win door prizes. The day goes by very fast and it really is a blast! Sunday are the private classes, but not all educators are having them. For the complete list, contact me via email or visit our Facebook page. If any company or educator is not on this list, they are not having a private class (as of today). These classes cost extra and the price is determined by the nail company. If you do not wish to attend the Event, you are still able to take private classes. Just contact the educator on the list with the contact numbers provided. ***Visit our Facebook page at "Nail Tech Networking Event of the Smokies" for updates and photos of the Event, plus private class info, lodging options, mileage from various cities, get info on things to do and see in the Smoky Mountains, etc. If you like what you see, become a fan and suggest it to your other tech friends, too!
