Did it today!! From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Wow I've missed a lot while traveling. The best we can all do as techs is educator our customers on the reality. If you don't already have Doug's book I recommend you get it. He's got some amazing facts in there that will help you explain to your customer why UV lamps are safe. I did do some research on UV-A (found in Lamps) and UV-B (both emitted from the sun) and also tanning beds. Doug states (and I've heard this from lamp engineers) that our lamps can emit UV-A equivalent to the sun and up to three times as much. But that also diminishes with distance. Every time you double the distance between you and the bulb it diminishes up to 75%!! Now take tanning beds for instance. Exposure time varies from 15 mins to 30 mins. The UV-A content is 12 x that of the sun. Finger Tips 3 mins in a Gel Lamp at 1 - 2 inches away from the bulb is so so much less likely to cause you cancer THAN walking your dog on a sunny day. Or walking down your walk to get the mail. Or the newspaper. Should I do a TV show on how their show causes me to have lock jaw? When I go to sleep at night thinking about this crap my jaw clamps down LOL. There is more truth in this statement than in their "gel lamps cause cancer" statements. Kind Regards, Elaine T.
