I just got shellac yesterday. Just to try it out I put some on over my gels. I see there is a learning curve to this. It's going to take some practice to get even coverage and get nice clean lines up the sidewall and cuticle area. I didn't get any crinkling with the Fedora, but it seems to me that the darker the colour the more product you need to get it on perfectly and evenly. I had to go over a few spots a few times to get even coverage. My bulbs are less than a week old, so maybe that makes a difference. The shine is beautiful. I'm lining up my guinea pigs so I can practice before I put it on real cients.

I haven't quite worked out how I'm going to do a french. I prefer the white on top of the pink/flesh tone....and I don't like having a bump, so maybe i'll try that swipe method.

Now I'm gonna' go see how this whole soak off thing goes.

Cream Puff. And I repeat-- I AM doing thin thin thin layers. I had it happen with the Fedora too. I also am using it over acrylic AND traditional gel.

Ok, here's the only thing I'm doing different than you - I'm using Gelish's "Top it off" gloss...... my Fedora has been crinkling on everyone and this stuff smooths it right out.
*Sorry for mixing systems, but I LOVE Gelish's top coat!*
See if you can see this picture: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/ hphotos-ak-sjc1/ hs619.snc3/32572_1473112704723_1140813585_1353775_7098720_n.jpg - at least 3 of those were crinkled before the top coat......

NOT only did the top coat not take it out, on 2 of the 4 the Shellac wasn't even stuck to the nail under the crinkle!!! I buffed it off that spot and put another coat on the whole nail. It was fine, but took extra time. :( Practice, practice, practice...

I use a base w/sog over acrylics - Foundation by Gelish. Should be so
thin you ScRuB it onto the nail.

Top coat takes out the crinkles in Shellac, don't panic. It's like magic. :o)
