I don't know about you guys, but over the years our biz has changed,
and some are going to have to realize it if they don't know.
The reliable 2-week enhancement clients are slowly going away. You
know, those that have been with us for years. We can count on them
for our income.
But because of the economy, or the children that are all grown up now
were raised that to get your nails done, you run into the local mall.
They don't search for a nail tech. they go for location, the nail
salon they drive past or walk past every day. This will not change.
Yes we still get our referrals, but because of every ones busy
schedule, it is harder to get someone to commit to an appointment for
the next 10 years every two weeks. Just not like the good ole
days. Sooner or later our 5-10 year clients will be leaving.
The bling toes that I started over 2 years ago after going to a HRTE
class, was the way for me to get started in the gel biz. It is going nuts.
So now I have those spots filled up(where it used to be loyal 2 week
appt. spots) with this consumer that comes back maybe 2-or 3 months.
And instead of seeing the same 2-week client, (who has no one any
longer to refer tome) I now see MORE clients, because they only come
in occasionally, but they refer more people to me, for a service that
they don't have to commit to.
More money, more referrals, more advertisement.
The new Gel Polish will almost be the same way. I actually want to
market this for the gel polish only. Trying to do a 30 minute
service, so I can do 2 in one hour, more spots open for this service.
Yes I will offer the gel polish with a new manicure service, but
thinking I will push for the polish only, less work for me, more
money per hour. Manicure with GP, an hour, about $30. But a GP only,
quick file and cuticle, 30 min. $20. thats $40 an hour, plus I
touched 2 people vs. one, which gives more advertisement and
referrals. And the whole tip thing, well the 30 may turn into a 35,
but the two 20's may turn into 25s, and that would be $50. so I will
pick the 50 over the 35 anytime.
I charge 25 for bling toes, so may have to charge 25 for the GP on
toes also. don't know yet. But you have to think of set up time for
the whole foot thing.
Just know where I'm stuck, is charging for add on, for toes and ac
clients.......my time issue. and what the market will allow. There
is no way for ac clients that 10 will go. But on toes, I see 10 in
the future.
So Karen and others rebuilding, this is the way to go. And for those
of you scared to start the whole gel thing, I was one of them, this
is the way to "learn". Ive even started pulling out my traditional
gels again, more confidence. JMHO in midtown America.......diana from indiana
