Some like Tropix better with 3 thin coats. For the dull finish, did you use 99% 
pure isopropyl alcohol? Are you using a CND lamp?

 Just did this on an acrylic client - NOT happy with the color,
 streaky, ugly.... Booooooooo! I also wiped the top coat and it wa
 DULL... Uhhhh...??? I used oil and it came back to life but that never
 happens with Gelish.
 
 Mind you, I JUST got the official Shellac base/top yesterday...been
 using Top It Off by Gelish...
