The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation proposes amendments to
existing rules at 16 Texas Administrative Code, Chapter 83, ยงยง83.22,
83.71 and 83.80 regarding the cosmetology program. These proposed rule
changes are necessary to create a temporary beauty salon, specialty
salon and dual shop license and eliminate square footage requirements
for salons. The proposed rule changes were recommended by the
Cosmetology Advisory Board at its meeting on June 21, 2010.

The proposal was published in the July 23, 2010, issue of the Texas
Register (35 TexReg 6421). The Department will accept comments on the
proposal until August 23, 2010.

TDLR encourages all persons interested in the cosmetologists program to
review the rule proposal, which is on the TDLR website at
http://www.license.state.tx.us/cosmet/cosmetprop.htm.
