I agree totally Diana. I use two old spa chairs (they were the first models out
by ET) I would guess they are 15 yrs old at least. I clean and disinfect them
between clients (flushing the water from the pipes) and do an algae treatment
at the end of the day. I have never had any problems and my polish job stays on
6 weeks. I think there is a place for every service. I personally will not
switch to a waterless. For me, it is just harder to do the type of pedi I do
without the tubs. I use scrubs and masks and do theme type pedis and it is a
lot of trouble to deal with having warmed towels etc to try and clean the foot
off. Easier to put back in water to rinse. If you are not using scrubs and
other kinds of treatments, I think waterless is fine. We have had this
discussion on her before. Everyones opinions differ and we all do what works
best for us. I just personally like the tubs. My pedis range from 35-65
dollars, and like I have said before, for me, if I am paying that kind of
moola, I want the chair. I don't play into the public fear of everything in
the news. I just tell them like it is. For instance, I had an avid tanner in
last week who had removed her acrylics from another shop. She had just decided
to stop going to the tanning salon. She wanted to try a different type of nail
instead of ac's. We decided on gel. Then she freaked when I pulled out the
light. I am thinking, ok you dried up raisen, now you are worried about the uv
light? She had heard you can get melanoma on your fingernails....so I told her
the deal with nail uv lights and her other option was fiberglass or french dip
or back to ac's. She decided on gel. I think of you are taking care of business
as a responsible nail tech, any service you choose to provide should abd can be
done safely.

Subject: NailTech:: JMHO/waterless Pedicures

First of all I am not saying that waterless pedicures do not work. I
agree they work. BUT..................

For example, you know how the media tears us apart about acrylic
nails (now gel nails), about how the consumer should NEVER EVER have
them applied because it will cause you to die and have a horrible
death, fingers will fall off, your family will die, and will be the
end of humanity! LOLOLO

And we say, hey wait a minute, we are good nail techs, we are
professionals. Yes there are problems out there, but NOT all of us
are out to maim and kill our clients.

For example, you know how some say that being a nail tech will cause
miscarriages, lung disease, kidney failure, liver problems,
menopause, depression, pimples, weight gain, cellulite, global warming!!! LOLO

And we say, hey wait a minute, we are responsible nail techs, we
understand. Yes there are problems out there, But most of us are
healthy and love our cellulite!!!!!!!!

And we have the waterless pedicures that promote an excellent
pedicure but also SCREAM, do not use the chair, it will maim you, DO
NOT USE THEM!!!!!! If you put your feet and legs in these chairs, you
will get unspeakable diseases, that we can't pronounce,
infections, your toes will fall off, and you will gain weight and get
more cellulite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I say, hey wait a minute, there are responsible nail techs out
there that clean their chairs and you can have an enjoyable pedicure
in a safe environment.

I consider waterless pedicures another SERVICE OPTION. I don't like
the idea that some that are educating that ALL pedicure thrones are
un-safe. The consumer should be taught both ways.

My clients love the chair. I clean it properly. The soaking has
NEVER affected the polish adherence.

I say, Service Options, the pedicure throne and the waterless
pedicure. They can both be effective and they both can cause the
same infections and diseases.

The professional nail technician knows how to do both, a great
pedicure with or without water, and how to prevent infection and diseases.
