Well you might not be interested, but thought maybe some would even
though it may not be in your state.
In Indiana we cannot regulate those that are not licensed.
So lets say you have an unlicensed nail tech/stylist working for you
as a salon owner that is licensed. The board can only go after the
salon owner because the owner is licensed. There is nothing we can
do to the unlicensed nail tech/stylist because they are NOT licensed
so therefore we have no power over non-licensed persons.
If a person opens a salon without a license, again we (the board)
cannot do anything because they are NOT licensed and only regulate
licensed persons. This would go to another gov. office (AG
office..consumer protection....criminal..etc.) but we have no power.
But as of July 1st in the State of Indiana the House and Senate
passed a new law that we now can investigate non licensed persons
operating as nailtechs/stylists/tanning/salons etc. As the complaint
Liaison for the State I've been seeing plenty of these come across my desk!!!
Very good and exciting if you are interested in laws like I am, jeez,
I need to get a life!!! lolol diana from indiana
