Hello I'm new to the group, My name is Anna I'm in Las Vegas started using the
Shellac in hopes that it would generate new business as I am strickly a Pink &
White acrylic girl and have been for years....But with business being what it
is here SLOW...I thought what the heck how freakn hard could it be to polish on
some gel and uv the darn thing, then I see you all having trouble trying to get
the stuff off of peoples nails and what damage it's causing now I'm scared to
see what the out come will be when I try to pry it off my clients that I
applied it to last week...O M G!

Here's the real reason for this note...I put the Shellac on a clients toes and
over her acrylics last week to see how she's like it now how the hell am I
supposed to get it off her nails when she has acrylics on and I can't very well
put her toes in a dish to remove it? I guess I can drill her nails to death
and do those 1st while I put tones of acetone in foil on her toes before her
pedicure huh? What do you all suggest?

Thanks and I am really enjoying all your comments suggestions and support for
each other...So Glad I found this group by mistake!!! WHOO HOO!

Thank you so much for your encouragement. I keep going everything in my mind as
to what I could have done differently. I admit I was feeling a little
discouraged, but your notes give me hope!!!

And Angie...definitely see what happens after only 5 minutes. I was shocked! I
will be doing it on one of my own nails just to see if her nails vs mine vary
in soak off time. Also I used acetone from Walmart vs Sally's this time.... so
I will have to do 2 of my nails.... 1 with Walmart brand and 1 with Sally's.
lol

Debbie... I really put lots of acetone on! I think that helped too!!!! Thanks
to everyone who mentioned the old soak off method and not being able to find my
soak off dishes.. I assumed this meant I needed lots and lots of acetone : )

Big Hugs!!!!!!!

Della...there does seem to be a learning curve on the soak offs. When I
first started with Shellac, it took an hour and a half to get the product
soaked off a client's hands and feet. I was SO frustrated! Now that I've
been doing it a while, by the time I get the last finger wrapped, the first
finger is released and ready. Same with feet. I find it helps to use plenty
of acetone...don't skimp on it. Don't get frustrated...time really does help
you get faster at it. Shellac does seem to be the fastest, but the others
(Eco and Gelish) are very close. It's SO worth the time to learn...all 3
(that I've tried) are awesome products. Keep at it.

Della,

This was your first time so don't worry about it. You have to get into a
routine. I am still very slow and need to work on my time. Have your
supplies ready ahead of time. Like your foils cut with cottonballs ready to
go. I will have to try five minute soaks.

Hello Friends,

I hope you have all had a good day : )

I had my first soak off with Gelish today. I used bits and pieces of
everyone's techniques which really helped. When I saw that Cyndi had
written ((( 5 ))) minutes to soak ... I thought no way!!!! After all... I
had soaked my own for 15 minutes after filling half the product off. Also I
could swear that an educator said that SOG does not re-harden like acrylic.
Well..... Cyndi is right!!!! It was amazing how much better the Gelish was
after only 5 minutes vs 15 !!!! I wish I could give you a big hug
Cyndi!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so glad I decided to peak inside the foil after
5 minutes!!!! The Gelish had "popped up" so to speak just
beautifully, unlike after 15 minutes.

I won't embarrass myself by telling you how long it took me to do the soak
off and reapply!!! lol

Okay.... I will tell you.... 2 HOURS!!!!!!! Pretty please someone tell me
that it isn't just me!!!!!!!

For those of you who can do the whole "shebang" in 45-60 minutes... this
will surely crack you up!!!

I am going to also find my soaking dishes to try it the old fashioned way
as some have suggested, as well as other steps. And
practice,practice,practice my speed!!!

I'm still taking suggestions by the way!!! lol

Hugs To All~

Hi Della,
I use the foil and cotton with acetone to remove Gelish from the
natural nails. I make sure the foil is tightly folded and let it sit
for 5 minutes. I notice that if it sits longer, it re-hardens. I
prep one nail at a time so by the time I prep one nail the next is
ready for removal. It takes me about 45 minutes for removal/re-app.
I never put a file to the nail bed-only a buffer. I have never done a
refill on Gelish. How long does it take you for a Gellish fill?
