It's over kill and it will leave her nail slightly different (ugly) than they other nail. If she is chronically plagued by ingrowns it may be necessary...but usually proper care can prevent. That whole bit about cutting the nails at an angle isn't what is as important as ...when you cut the free edge down, be sure that your cutting tool is under her nail and poking out the side wall. This insures that you've cut all of it. Sometimes our clients Or under educated techs cut just short of the "actual" edge. They leave behind a small sharp sliver that is hidden in the side wall of the toe. It then digs and buries itself into the skin. I've done this to myself when I was cutting in a hurry. Now I'm such a pedi addict that my girl keeps my toes perfect.
